Norfolk fortuitously missed out on the heavy “metal-bashing” features of the Industrial Revolution but it had huge range of smaller-scale but wide-spread industries. This course investigates the extent of and influences on activity in five market towns. Agriculture was the ubiquitous industry in the county from its earliest times and was the principal factor which drove all other industrial development.
